Niagara-on-the-Lake: Wayne Gretzky Estates
A long weekend must-do in Ontario is visiting Niagara-on-the-lake. Last month we drove to Wayne Gretzky Estates to check out the newly built winery–featuring whisky and wine–inspired by The Great One. Wayne Gretzky Estates is truly a destination, complete with a sit down patio-style restaurant, private rooms for events and a VIP lounge. It's located right beside Trius Winery, making it extra appealing to winery goers. Beyond tours and tastings, there's so much to do and enjoy at Gretzky Estates. If you haven't been there yet, here's what you can expect.
Hockey Fans, rejoice!
From the moment you hit the parking lot you know you're at Gretzky Estates -– Number 99 and hockey memorabilia can be found throughout the building. There's a man-made pond outside by the patio... the perfect setting for a summer cocktail and the ideal skating rink in the winter.
Paradise for Patio Lovers
The Gretzky Estates patio is no joke. It's spacious, lively and has a great view. We had just signed up for the No. 99 Club (see below) and were greeted on the patio with the cocktail of the month -- free each month to Club members. It was 30 degrees outside without a cloud in the sky. We had a couple drinks, ordered food from the full-service kitchen and enjoyed some sun. What a great way to spend an afternoon.
